Your Privacy Matters: BackCheck is designed with privacy as a core principle. All your data stays on your device. We don't operate servers, collect analytics, or share your information with anyone.

Welcome to BackCheck, a posture tracking and reminder app for iOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information when you use our app.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

3. What Data We Collect

BackCheck collects and stores the following information exclusively on your device:

Posture Check Records: Timestamps and posture quality ratings (good posture, needs work, or snoozed) for each check-in you complete
User Preferences: Your notification schedule (work hours), daily check-in goals, selected notification personality, and rest days
Badge and Achievement Progress: Your unlocked badges and progress toward achievements
Streak Data: Your current streak count and streak protection status
Subscription Status: Whether you have an active premium subscription (managed by Apple's StoreKit)
App Settings: Your preferences for notifications, focus mode, and other app configurations

Important: All data is stored locally on your device using Apple's secure UserDefaults framework. We do NOT collect, transmit, or store any data on external servers. We do not operate any backend infrastructure.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use the data stored on your device to:

Provide core app functionality (tracking your posture check-ins)
Send you local notifications based on your configured schedule
Calculate and display your statistics, trends, and achievements
Manage your subscription status (free vs. premium features)
Personalize your experience with your chosen notification personality
Track your streak and apply streak protection when needed

All processing happens locally on your device. Your data never leaves your iPhone or iPad.

5. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored exclusively on your device using Apple's secure UserDefaults framework, which is protected by iOS security features including:

Device encryption (when you have a passcode/Face ID/Touch ID enabled)
App sandbox security (data is isolated from other apps)
iOS security updates and protections

Data Deletion: If you delete the BackCheck app from your device, all data is permanently removed. We cannot recover your data because we don't store it anywhere else.

6. Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do NOT share your data with anyone. Here's what we don't do:

❌ We do NOT use advertising networks or serve ads
❌ We do NOT sell, rent, or trade your personal information
❌ We do NOT transmit your data to external servers
❌ We do NOT share your data with third-party partners

Apple Services

The only third-party service involved is Apple's StoreKit framework for processing in-app purchase subscriptions. Apple handles all payment processing and subscription management. We never receive or store your payment information. Apple's handling of your payment data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

7. Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

Access Your Data

All your data is visible within the app in the Statistics and Badges sections. You can review your check-in history, streaks, and achievements at any time.

Delete Your Data

You can delete your data in two ways:

Delete specific check-in records (if we add this feature in future updates)
Delete the entire app from your device, which permanently removes all data

Stop Notifications

You can disable notifications at any time by:

Turning off notifications in BackCheck's Settings screen
Disabling notifications in iOS Settings > Notifications > BackCheck

Cancel Subscription

You can cancel your premium subscription at any time through your iPhone Settings:

Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions
Select BackCheck
Tap "Cancel Subscription"

You'll retain premium access until the end of your current billing period.

8. International Users and Legal Compliance

GDPR (European Union Users)

If you are in the European Union, the following applies:

Legal Basis: We process data based on legitimate interest (providing app functionality) and contract performance (if you have a subscription)
Data Retention: Data is retained on your device until you delete the app or specific records
Your Rights: You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, and object to processing of your data. Since all data is stored locally on your device, you can exercise these rights by managing data within the app or deleting the app.
Complaints: You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority
Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old to use BackCheck in the EU (or 13-15 with parental consent, depending on your country)

CCPA (California Users)

If you are a California resident:

Categories of Personal Information: Device usage data (posture check records, preferences, statistics) stored locally on your device
We Do NOT Sell Personal Information: We have never sold and will never sell your personal information
Your Rights: You have the right to know what data we collect, the right to delete your data (delete the app), and the right to opt-out of sales (not applicable)
Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

COPPA (Children's Privacy)

BackCheck is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Since our app doesn't require account creation and all data stays on-device, we have no way to determine a user's age. 9. Notification Permissions

BackCheck requests permission to send local notifications to remind you about posture checks according to your configured schedule. These notifications are generated locally on your device, not sent from a remote server.

You can disable notification permissions at any time in iOS Settings > Notifications > BackCheck.

We do NOT use push notifications or send notifications from external servers.

10. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Premium subscriptions are processed exclusively through Apple's App Store. Your payment information is handled by Apple - we never receive, see, or store your payment details (credit card numbers, billing addresses, etc.).

Subscription management, billing, and refunds are governed by Apple's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. For subscription issues, you can contact Apple Support or manage subscriptions in your iPhone Settings.

11. Health and Medical Disclaimer

Important: BackCheck is NOT a medical device and does NOT provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The app is for informational and tracking purposes only.

For any medical concerns related to posture, back pain, or musculoskeletal health, please consult qualified healthcare professionals.

12. Privacy Manifest (PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy)

As required by Apple, BackCheck includes a Privacy Manifest file that declares:

Tracking: We do NOT track you across apps and websites
Data Collection: We do NOT collect data that leaves your device
Required Reason API: We use UserDefaults to store app data locally on your device (Apple Required Reason: CA92.1 - "Access info from same app")

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or app features. When we make material changes, we will:

Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
Notify you through the app or via the email associated with your subscription (if applicable)

Your continued use of BackCheck after changes to this policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

14. App Store Privacy Nutrition Labels

In the App Store, you'll see our Privacy Nutrition Labels which declare:

Data Linked to You: None
Data Not Linked to You: None (or minimal local usage data)
